Alhaurin Auctions

Living in the Sun at Alhaurin AuctionsThe BBC filmed at Alhaurin Auctions´ last auction on Friday 7th September, for the new series of the popular TV show “Living in the Sun”.
The presenter Kristian Digby, who also hosts the show “To Buy or Not to Buy”, interviewed Jess & Amanda, the owners of the business and also chatted with several of the customers who had entered their lots into the auction. There were approximately 150 lots in total including some unusual items such as a decorative cart, a Mexican garden ornament and a solid wood model motorbike!
The shop was full to the brim with enthusiastic customers, film cameras & crew. Kristian wanted to have a go at auctioning and took to the rostrum to auction the last few lots. After a slightly uncertain start, bids started coming strong and fast and the final lot created a bit of a stir. “He was very good” said Jess, “but he shouldn’t give up the day job!” Fun was had by all. Look out for the programme which is to be screened sometime in the New Year.
The auction is held on the 1st Friday of each month and starts promptly at 6pm. The shop is open Mon – Fri 10am to 3pm and Sat 10am – 2pm.

Country Farmers Market

The country farmers market is now in its 4th year and is going from strength to strength.  At present we have 2 venues with the original one being at Bar Aguamania located on the Coin-Cartama road and is open every Friday between 10am and 2pm, where you can find something for everyone.  This quaint little market consists of our food-hall which has every thing from homemade pies, cakes, pastries to a variety international cuisine and British food to a great selection of crafts and artesano stalls, from hand made jewellery to hand made greeting cards.

We are always looking to expand so if you know anyone who cooks or who likes crafts and would like to turn a hobby into a little cash then please contact Anita on 627877164 for further details. As at the start of September we are looking to add a PAMPER CORNER where ladies can have a massage and have their hair cut whilst the gentlemen while away the time reading a paper over a cup coffee or something stronger in the relaxing and friendly atmosphere the Bar Aguamania affords.  So watch this space.

The 2nd venue is Los Jardines Del Trapiche on the on the A356 Velez-Malaga Road which is a fantastic banqueting hall. This venue boasts ample parking and over 80 stalls which the county farmers market is famous for. This market is held every Tuesday morning from 10am to 2pm, just follow the signs.

We as a management team are working very hard to bring you more exiting venues. If you think you know just the place to hold a market, they must have at least the following criteria;

1) Plenty of car parking space both for customers and traders.
2) A separate indoor area for food stalls.
3) Room for expansion.

If you know of any such place please call;
Anita on 627 877 164 /  Dale on 600 783 870 / Chrissy on 617 811 030

Kangaroo Bar

Kangaroo BarMichael and Loretta from the “Kangaroo Bar” would like to welcome their new addition to the family, Reyes Anthony, born 15th May 2007. When Michael met Loretta in August of 2005, they never dreamt that less than a year later they would be jet setting around Europe, getting hitched in Italy and ending up in Spain buying a bar. After a quick jolly back home to Oz to finalise things, they were back in Spain and opened the “Kangaroo Bar” on 1st October 2006.

Being the first Aussie bar on the Costa, they are pretty proud of their achievement and love being in Spain in the bar business. If there is one thing they pride themselves on, it’s their fresh food. Their entire menu is made from only the freshest local produce (Skippy excluded of course)!

So do yourself a favour, drop in and enjoy the fairdinkum Aussie atmosphere and service from Michael and Loretta - you may even get a glimpse of the little fella Reyes. See you all soon - Cheers!
