Dogs of Distinction
We are committed to education & helping to raise safe dogs in society
Our philosophy is to teach and implement kind, gentle & yet effective methods in both training & rehabilitation, with empathy for both dog & owner.
We teach training hand in hand with behaviour theory & communication. We explain the need for early puppy socialisation & the underlying causes for behaviour issues, whilst showing kind, yet effective methods for treating & dealing with behavioural problems from pulling on lead to more serious problems of aggression.

Dog training - For both dogs & their owners
NO PUNISHMENT REQUIRED!
We teach you the rules of the canine pack, enabling you to become a strong, but fair pack leader without the need for conflict. The classes will give you the skills to work with & train your dog, both in the class & the outside world, whilst teaching you how to get the best from your four legged friend. At no time do we implement the use of punishment as this can destroy the human-dog relationship & lead to more serious problems developing. We help you build a strong, rewarding relationship with your dog & give you knowledge to prevent problems arising in the future.
Rehabilitation groups & one to one behaviour sessions are available for those experiencing difficulties.
Preliminary behaviour assessment
For those wishing to attend class, but already experiencing problems we offer a one to one counseling service, where we can discuss the situation & teach you how to effectively deal with your individual problems before commencing classes.
Behaviour counselling
Home Visits last between 2 – 4 hours, depending on the problems you may be experiencing. The initial consultation is held in your home. We take a detailed history from you, assessing the behaviour & situation on the dogs own territory. Once this assessment is complete, we teach you how to implement a behaviour modification programme. We will suggest the best way forward for both owner and dog whilst showing you how to effectively deal with the individual problems you are experiencing. More difficult cases - those requiring further appointments & ongoing treatment - are offered at a reduced fee.
Private training sessions available on request.
Behaviour workshops
For anyone wishing to gain a deeper understanding of canine behaviour and communication.
It is clear when we live with or work with dogs our behaviour towards them has a huge effect on their behaviour and reactions. Whether a dog owner with an interest in canine behaviour and communication or you are working with dogs on a daily basis, the courses will give you in-depth theoretical knowledge whilst providing hands on visual displays with dogs.
The aims of the workshops are to present an insight into canine language and communication. Investigating the root causes of behaviour and training problems, increasing awareness as to why problems arise whilst teaching strategies & techniques to deal with individual problems.
The behaviour and body language of dogs is often misunderstood or misinterpreted and sometimes our interactions (in a human way) can lead to conflict & sometimes even confrontation.
We are concerned for both the welfare of dogs and people. Aggression is one of the most worrying problems we are currently seeing in our society. There are many root causes for aggressive displays in dogs and therefore a thorough understanding of the underlying causes in each individual case is necessary in order to implement rehabilitation programmes.
Our philosophy is to teach and implement kind, gentle & yet effective methods in both training & rehabilitation, with empathy for both dog & owner. We teach training hand in hand with behaviour theory & communication. We explain the underlying causes for behaviour issues, whilst showing kind, yet effective methods for treating & dealing with problems. We have found over the years most dogs are simply misunderstood by their two legged companions!
Rescue Work
We began with a small cat spey programme in our local area, this has gradually expaned but like all good work we need funds to continue....
We endevour to do what we can to assist abandoned animals whilst working to reduce the numbers of animals being abandoned through our catch and neuter programmes.
Working together with numerous other rescue and animal welfare organisations and individulas throughout Spain we also provide assistance, information and advice for both pet owners and the general public.
