Riding

Rancho del Rio is happy to take riders of all abilities and can even provide lead pony rides for children of 6 and under.
Rancho del Rio is located in the lovely Guadalhorce valley and is owned and run by Jane, who is herself a very experienced rider and teacher. Jane has competed for Great Britain, ran her own riding school in Oxfordshire, was involved in the Riding for the Disabled scheme and relocated to Andalucia 5 years ago.

Rancho del Rio uses Spanish Andalucian horses and traditional Spanish saddles. We have riding hats available and as you would expect, with Jane’s background, are very safety conscious. We will take a maximum of five riders, including up to two inexperienced ones, at any one time.
We offer a variety of rides from one hour up to a full day ride which includes a BBQ and use of a swimming pool.

Accommodation

Accommodation is available on site at the stables, set on the riverside and surrounded by peaceful lemon groves. The accommodation comprises of a newly built 2 Bedroom log cabin, which sleeps up to 4 people. The cabin is fully furnished in a traditional Andalucian style and has a fully fitted kitchen, fridge, shower room and Sky TV. Full board is available for those who do not wish to self cater.

Rancho del Rio

The stables are only a few minutes from the town of Cartama which has many bars and restaurants. For groups with non riders we are situated a short drive away from the famous beaches and attractions of the Costa del Sol.

It is about a twenty minute drive from the coast and Málaga airport and can easily be accessed by car. For those who prefer not to drive, Jane will be happy to collect you from one of the local train stations.
