Softwater Solutions has intelligent answers to hard water problems. IT'S obvious that the water in Spain is a lot harder than what you may be used to. The tell tale signs are there when you do the washing up and need half a bottle of liquid, or washing your hair and finding that you're in the shower for half an hour longer than you remember it taking. Although many expats in Spain are aware of the differences, it's a different matter altogether when it comes to solving the problem. Steve and Paula Dyer have over 45 years worth of experience in the Water Treatment Industry. They are located in Southern Spain (Andalucia) where the water is at its hardest, although they don't restrict themselves to local work. Softwater Solutions are representatives in Spain of Ecowater, the world’s largest manufacturer of residential water softeners. Steve and Paula approached Ecowater to sell their equipment in Spain as, “We felt that no one understands hard water better than Ecowater. They draw on generations of experience to create products that eliminate the abrasive effects of hard water and deliver the far-reaching benefits of soft water on tap.” Since he left school, Steve has served his apprenticeship as a heating pipe fitter and went on to work as a domestic plumbing and heating engineer. Looking for a new challenge, he went to work for Permutit who were the UK’s largest water treatment company as an installer/service engineer. In 1981 Steve set-up his own business supplying his services to a large range of water treatment companies both in the domestic and industrial market covering the whole of the UK. Now that they're in Spain, Steve and Paula are finding that the people that they talk to are aware of the problem, but are unaware of how to treat the problems. Steve said “Hard water is a problem and the warning signs are everywhere. Lime scale in kettles, showerheads and scum around baths provides ample evidence of far-reaching effects that can cause untold damage to household appliances and hot water systems. Even bath time and laundry are impacted, due in part to the need for extra soap, detergents and cleaning products in hard water households.” So what exactly are the benefits of having softer water, apart from going through less soap and shampoo? First of all there are the money savings: money savings on the care and maintenance of washing machines, showers and anything else that has the potential to suffer through limescale build-up. Softer water also makes your hair feel softer and your skin feel softer, while at the same time being a proven way to help alleviate the suffering caused by eczema. Softwater Solutions also market and sell Ecowater Reverse Osmosis Pure Water Drinking systems, which unlike many systems on the market only require two filters to be changed once a year, which are twist-fit, allowing the customer to change the fitting themselves.
