Sky TV Sky TV

British Television in Spain
Total Satellite have been operating from the Costa del Sol, Spain for 5 years now and are fully experienced and equipped to manage all satellite installations. Whether you're in the campo or in the centre of a built up town, Total Satellite has found solutions to bringing its customers satellite TV across Andalucia!

Sky TV

It is now possible in Spain to receive British Terrestrial Television that is FREE to view. This means NO subscription for the following channels:
All BBC channels, BBC1, 2, 3 ,4 & All ITV channels, ITV1, 2, 3, 4.

To receive these channels it is NOT necessary to have a card, nor pay any subscription. This is a real case of “free TV” without the asterisk!

Channel 4 Channel 5 and SKY 3
To watch these three channels you WILL need a Sky digital receiver (or similar), and a card. But still there is no need to pay any subscription.

Sky Card

One of the problems in Spain is the weak signal strength, which means that if you intend to watch British Terrestrial Television in Spain you will have to choose your receiving equipment carefully. Some areas give better reception than others. What you will need to check are the following:-

  • The dish size

  • The LNB (low noise blockdown converter)

  • The receiver.

Dish size
Weaker signal means you need a larger dish. A Prime Focus dish gives better reception from a weak signal than an Offset Focus dish. In the Costa Del Sol, a smaller dish will give reasonable results. A 1.1m Prime Focus dish can be OK here but a 1.3m dish may be advisable depending upon your position.

LNB
The best LNB for Spain is the Invacom TWIN.

Receiver
Now you'll need a receiver, and for this you will need to decide between a budget FTA receiver, or dedicated digibox for FTV and subscription channels.

There is 3 levels of encryption associated with Sky Digital :-
1) FTA (Free to Air) - no card required, can be viewed with digibox or normal DVB digital satellite receiver.
2) FTV (Free to View) - can only be viewed with a Sky Digibox, requires a card but not a subscription.
3) Subscription Channels (Sky) - can only be viewed with a Sky Digibox, and a valid subscription.

Sky TV

Total Satellite can provide new and used Sky boxes including Thompsons, Amstrads and Pace DS430N all with 12 months guarantee. Total Satellite can also install a 1.1m or a 1.3m dish and free to air cards giving you over 140 channels with news, music, radio and film channels and no subscription necessary.
